On a balcony in the city centre? On an allotment in the suburbs? In a window box on a terraced house window ledge? In a yoghurt pot on your desk at work?
Join communities from across south Leeds as they turn urban landscapes into green havens at the city's first Urban Gardening Weekend.
From fun activities and community clean ups to demonstrations and workshops, the urban gardening weekend has something to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to get those green fingers twitching.
Find out how to grow-your-own plants, fruit and vegetables, take part in a free plant swap, a green-kids activity or a retro beetle drive and be amongst the first to see the unveiling of a new art installation by The Culture Company and artists/architects Amenity Space which will provide a place to perch and watch the weekend unfold.
With many free events for everyone to enjoy, the Urban Gardening Weekend will show how green fingers and green thinking can help turn city spaces into urban oases.
Urban Gardening Weekend would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication and support offered by many groups and individuals. Holbeck Urban Village would like to thank:
Anita, Fran, Anys and Jo at Anita Morris Associates, Diane Goodall at Leeds City Council, the team at Type in Motion, Holbeck in Bloom, David Foster for photography services, The Culture Company, Amenity Space and Voice of Holbeck for their hard work and creativity in delivering Urban Gardening Weekend.
Vanessa Scarth, Peter Vaughan, Paul Simmons, David Roberts, Daniel Murray, Oliver Quarmby, Toby Hyam, Sharon Dale, Emma Bearman, Jon Baldwin, Jeremy Morton, Ian Pickup and Hanif Malik and all of the businesses taking part in the event for ideas, support and suggestions along the way.
