Save our Post Office

>> Posted 11/08/2008

As Post Offices around the country start to close, our local service has become the latest casualty prompting angry outbursts from residents.

Recently Holbeck lost the battle to retain the local post office but undeterred by this a group of local champions have started a petition to bring this vital service back to the community.

The nearest post office is one mile away at Lodge Lane at the top of a hill which is difficult to access for people with mobility issues. This office also does not process passport and car tax applications, the nearest post office for these services is 2.5 miles away on Dewsbury Road, Beeston.

A petition has been started by the local Holbeck community which will be presented the director of the Post Office Authority in a bid to reopen this vital community service.
