Eleven new contemporary art installations - collectively titled 'Secrets and Light' - will open on April 8 as part a massive consultation exercise on proposals for the development of Holbeck Urban Village.
Ten Yorkshire artists have created work using digital media technologies, video projection, sound, neon and photography, to form a temporary public art trail that reveals some curious stories, interesting people, imagined futures and half-remembered histories of the area. The art installations, commissioned by the Culture Company, range from a glowing, illuminated boat in the canal and a projection of sheep onto Temple Works, to a series of listening posts in the Dark Arches and letterboxes in Water Lane.
