Plans for a branch of Jamie Oliver's restaurant group 'Fifteen' have been officially backed by Leeds City Council and Yorkshire Forward.

The plans could see the award-winning restaurant, which was created to help young people in disadvantaged communities kick start their culinary career, bringing life back to Holbeck Urban Village's Dark Arches in less than 18 months.

Jean Dent, director of city development at Leeds City Council is delighted with the decision: "Fifteen has already helped over 100 disadvantaged young people start a successful career as a chef. This is something we fully support and fits perfectly with our own vision of narrowing the gap with the city’s less advantaged communities."

Jamie Oliver added: It's always exciting when a new Fifteen is being discussed. I just hope we continue to get the support from local partners to be able to create a brilliant restaurant in Yorkshire which will attract customers from all over the world and help local young people at the same time."

The restaurant relies on local businesses donating funds to help support the chefs in their training and development.
