The Cross Keys , backing on to the Round Foundry, has been given a new lease of life. The pub enjoys prime views of the Round Foundry and Tower Works. It re-opened in July and was immediately beseiged by customers who appreciate its laid back approach to food and drink and its historic surroundings.
Cross Keys has been beautifully restored with many of the original features still in place. Making use of the public courtyard next to the media centre has also been a great success for the owners.
Owner and manager Christian Townsley says:"It's a gastropub really, we wanted a friendly, informal atmosphere where people don't feel like they have to eat but will hopefully be tempted by our delicious menu." They also offer a range of quality wines and carefully selected beers.
After months of searching for the right venue and frequent visits to Holbeck, the Cross Keys was finally chosen as the ideal place. Christian and his business partner John feel that, of all the options they looked at, this one offered the greatest opportunity.
"There's a great bunch of businesses and residents in the area and we feel confident that we have created a venue that people will travel to especially as the area continues to develop in such interesting surroundings. We think Holbeck Urban Village will exceed expectations in coming years and are delighted to be part of it."
