Over two hundred stakeholders from the public sector, business, arts, media and other key cultural and creative industries across the UK will come together in Leeds next week for the National Creative Industries Conference – Creative Places, Creative Economies.
Delegates will have the opportunity to look at the role the sector plays in the economy, debate the role of local and national government in supporting investment in creative industries and explore future skills requirements.
Councillor John Procter, chair of the Leeds Cultural Partnership, said: "Leeds is a special place with phenomenal cultural vitality. It is home to talent as varied as Opera North, Kay Mellor, Corinne Bailey Rae, the Kaiser Chiefs and Yorkshire Television. The creative industries are widely recognised as a driving force of the local UK economy, and are central to the future of Leeds.
From gaming software through to performing arts, Leeds has a strong and diverse creative base. And with one of the biggest media clusters outside London, Leeds is the obvious choice to host the annual National Creative Industries Conference organised by Civic Regeneration."
The conference will begin with a choice of guided visits to highly successful creative developments and initiatives in Leeds, including Holbeck Urban Village, Leeds Grand Theatre and East Street Arts.
