Where: Granary Wharf
When:30th June 4-6.30pm
Independent retailers searching for a unique place to trade in Leeds are being invited on an exclusive tour of what has been tipped to become one of the most historic and vibrant trading corners of the city.
Granary Wharf has recently undergone a £40m facelift at the hands of Isis Waterside Regeneration. Now developers of the scheme are looking for individual shops and cafés to make the waterside development their home.
The craft market formerly based there was an alternative retail destination in Leeds for over 15 years. Before that Granary Wharf was a historic location for barge builders and warehouses for many of the largest businesses in Leeds.
The tour is due to be held on Tuesday June 30 between 4pm and 6.30pm. Places are limited so interested businesses are urged to book a place as soon as possible.
Granary Wharf sits in the heart of Leeds, alongside the River Aire and the Leeds Liverpool Canal, just minutes from the city’s railway station. The site was once home to the local flax industry and it is there that linen draper John Marshall set up the world’s first mechanized flax spinning process at the dawn of the industrial revolution.
The success of the industry at that time, earned Leeds the title of the ‘city that makes everything’ from woolens and textiles to armaments.
Now, thanks to the vision of specialist waterside developer ISIS, which is determined to keep the development free from high street chains, Leeds could well become the city that sells everything.
