representation of holbeck urban village

Sarah, age 31

Sarah is a restaurant manager who was one of the first tennants in the award winning Round Foundry. Here is her account of life in Holbeck Urban Village.

”I have lived here for two years now and originally chose this location as it is close to Leeds city centre and was one of the nicer developments. There are so many apartments to choose from in Leeds City and I just felt that the Round Foundry development had a nicer feel to it and wasn’t as impersonal as some residential developments can be.

I work in the centre of Leeds so this was obviously a factor in my choice of location but even still it is a nice enough distance form the city centre to still feel as though I have left the office when I get home.

Having lived in the city centre before I definitely prefer where I am now. The buzz of the city centre is great for a while but it’s a lot quieter living in the urban village and it has more of a community feel about it, it’s nice that everyone seems to know each other and you can walk into the pub on your own and find someone that you know in there

I think the development of the area is fantastic and really cannot wait until more leisure facilities are added. The bars and restaurants that we have already are nice and we are very lucky to have such a nice pub and restaurant right on our doorstep, but I am really  looking forward to when development really starting to take off so that we can see more of a choice.

The are is definitely improving. I learned about Holbeck Urban Village from a friend who also lives here and would certainly recommend living her to any of my friends.”
