Four Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) were appointed to patrol Holbeck Urban Village in September 2005. They have been assigned to the area for an initial period of two years and provide a visible uniformed presence.
The appointments were made a result of a community safety audit, which revealed fear of crime in the area to much higher than actual crime levels. To ensure that crime isn't displaced into the surrounding communities of Holbeck and Beeston Hill, the PCSOs will also patrol these adjoining areas.
Plans are underway to house a drop-in centre for the PCSOs in one of the units at the Round Foundry so that they can be easily contacted whenever needed. Meanwhile, the PCSOs can be contacted in the following ways:
l Non-urgent calls 0113 241 3101
this is a voicemail service and an officer will return your call within 24 hours
l Switchboard 0845 60 60 606
for West Yorkshire related incidents
l General emergency number 999
