Duck Egg Theatre Company in partnership with the Breeze International Youth Festival are offering a very special project giving drama students in Leeds the opportunity to create and perform a brand new piece of theatre in the Temple Works, Holbeck.

They will create their own production company and work with a professional Theatre Director and choreographer to put together a piece around the theme of ‘hometown pride’, using the fantastic surroundings of the Templeworks as inspiration.  The building stands proud in Holbeck’s landscape as a symbol of Leeds’ impact on the world through industry.

Duck Egg Theatre Company Education Director Haley Cox stated “The great thing about putting together site-specific theatre is the unique journey you take your audience on.  This project will force the participants to think of theatre in an entirely different light.  It is an amazing opportunity for any budding theatre actors, directors and even designers.”

Duck Egg Youth Theatre member Sophie Roberts (18) said “I can’t wait to get started on the project and explore the site.  It looks like an amazing building.  I have so many ideas already about how we can use the space and I am looking forward to transferring my ideas into a performance.  It’s a great show to put on my drama school application”

To get involved you must be aged 13-19 and be able to attend the rehearsals and performance dates (24th and 25th May 6:30-8:30pm, 30th May – 3rd June 10am-3pm, performance on 3rd June at 8:30pm).  To book a place on the project contact Duck Egg Theatre Company on             07723 371833      , haley@duckegg.org.uk or visit www.duckegg.org.uk for an application form.
